Oatlands is located about 5 miles south of Leesburg, Virginia. It was established by George Carter in 1798 from prime Loudoun Country farmland. In 1903 prominent Washingtonians, Edith and William Corcoron Eustis, purchased Oatlands as their country home. The family donated the property to the National Trust for Historic preservation in 1964. Oatlands today consists of a stately Mansion, exquisite gardens and numerous out buildings, including one of the oldest greenhouses in the country. It is a repository of more than 200 years of American history and Culture on 415 acres.
Oatlands is a National Historic Landmark, the highest designation awarded by the National Park Service.
